Spearmint Oil and Peppermint Oil In Mint Shampoo - It Works!

Why Use A Mint Shampoo? The smell of peppermint and spearmint is very distinctive and refreshing.  These oils contain menthol which has a warming and cooling effect.  They can be used in soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, chewing gum and tea.  They are often used in toothpaste because they are antiseptic and are known for curing bath breath and killing germs that grow in the mouth.

Peppermint oil contains many minerals and nutrients including- manganes, iron, magnesium, calcium, folate, potassium and copper.  It also contains omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Omega-3’s are important to the body and they must come from outside sources because they are not produced by the body.

Peppermint oil is a skin astringent which makes it great for treating oily skin because it removes excess skin that causes infection and acne.  The menthol improves dull skin, and helps to tone skin, and even out blotchy or red skin.  The vitamin C combined with the cooling effects of the menthol in peppermint and spearmint help combat sun and skin damage.  It is also moisturizing and often used to treat rough dry skin such as that on the feet.

Hair and scalp benefit from peppermint and spearmint as well.  The cooling effect is soothing to the scalp.  It will provide relief from dandruff and other scalp conditions.  It is also helpful in ridding the hair of lice.  Hair washed with peppermint or spearmint oil will feel conditioned and soft.
